Spain chooses candidate for next year's Oscar
MADRID, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Spain chose film "Tambien la Lluvia" (Even the Rain) on Tuesday as the country's candidate（候选人） for an Oscar next year in the category（种类,分类） "Best non-English Language Film.""Tambien la Lluvia" held off strong competition(竞赛,比赛) from films "Celda 211," which had triumphed in Spain's Goya awards, and "Lope," a biographical account of Spanish writer Lope de Vega.
The 83rd Oscars ceremony will be held on Feb. 27, 2011, but "Tambien la Lluvia" will first have to make the final selection by the American Film Academy on Jan. 25.
"Tambien la Lluvia" was filmed in Bolivia and is the fifth work of director Iciar Bollain. It is a story of two people who want to make a film about explorer Christopher Columbus from different perspectives.
