CCTV5 to become Olympic channel since Jan 1, 2008
China's CCTV5, the country's main sport channel, will become a 24-hour Olympic channel starting Jan.1st next year. It will become the major media window on preparations for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
On Friday's International Sports TV Forum 1, Jiang Heping, the executive director of CCTV5, presented general broadcasting plans on how the channel would cover the upcoming Olympic Games. It includes pre-Olympic programmes, coverage 2 plans during the Olympics, as well as other special follow-up programmes after the Olympic Games are over.
Meanwhile, other CCTV channels and digital TV channels will cooperate with CCTV5 to meet the different demands of viewers. According to Jiang Heping, the sports channel will mainly focus on the Chinese Olympic team's performance. The diverse programmes are aimed to highlight the competitions.
