"Structure is what leads to success, not waking up before the sun rises," author Craig Ballantyne told to Forbes' contributor Garrett Gunderson.
Ballantyne makes his livelihood 1 on the "early to rise" theory yet acknowledges that not all of us are the type to meditate 2, run 14 miles and find inbox zero before 7 a.m. Rather, you can prep for productivity the previous night with this 10-minute trick.
1. Brain dump: At the end of your workday, declutter your racing 3 mind. Write down all of tomorrow's to-dos. Clear your thoughts of all this stress.
2. To-do list: From your brain dump, select just three important tasks that must be completed tomorrow. Don't overload 4 or overestimate 5 yourself, which re-invites stress.
3. Scribble 6 notes: For the three to-do items, jot 7 down notes. For example, if you need to make a call or publish an article tomorrow, write the topics you'll discuss. These keywords will more easily trigger idea flow the next morning.
