66. Yeah, working conditions matter, but I want a job where
there're lots of babes.
是啊,虽然工作条件很重要,但我想要在有很多侨妞的地方工作.
Yeah 是 yes 的口语说法. Yeah....是自言自语的口气, 表示
"虽然...."之意. working conditions 是"工作条件".
此处的 matter 做动词用,表示"非常重要"之意.
67. Uh-oh, this looks like an underworld operation.
哎呀!这地方看起来象是黑道经营的场所.
this (=this place) 是"这里,此处"的意思. underworld 指黑社会.
operation 是"事业,经营". I'd better wash my hands of the
underworld and go straight as soon as possible. 是(我最好尽早改邪归正).
68. Come to think of it, I've been working here for five years.
想起来,我在这地方已工作五年了.
come to think of it 的意思是"来想想看".也就是 when/now that
I come to think of it 的简略. 此句用现在完成进行式 have
been....ing 表示"持续..". It's about time I left this job
是(是我该离开这职务的时候了!)之意.
69. Now that I'm out on errands 1, they'll never know whether I am working or not.
由于我在外面跑腿,他们永远也不知道我是否在工作.
now that (=since)...是"由于....."之意. out on errands 是"在外当跑腿".
He is always going on/running errands for his girlfriend.
是(他总是替他女朋友跑腿).

gross 是"哎呀!",表示"好可怕"之意. not even..."连...也不...".

washroom 等. I want to work in a clean, tidy kitchen. 是(我想在一个清洁,干净的厨房工作).
