Salesman: How do you like this silk scarf? This is a typical Chinese souvenir.
Mark: I like it very much. It will certainly remind me of China when I return to my country. I'll take it.
Salesman: Shall I pack it for you?
Mark: Yes please. Can you pack it in colored paper?
Salesman: Sure. Is it okay in this way?
Mark: Great. Thanks. Can I use my credit 2 card for my purchase?
Salesman: Yes, sir. We accept American Express, Visa and Master Card. Please go to the cashier 3.
Cashier: Here you go. Just sign the slip here, please. Have a nice day.
Mark: Thanks, you too.

B. Cash or Credit Card?
Mrs. Anderson comes to buy some typical Chinese dolls for her grandchildren before she goes back to England.
Salesgirl: How about this doll, ma'am?
Mrs. Anderson: Oh, I like it. It's so lovely.
Salesgirl: Yes. And it's also very popular with little children.
Mrs. Anderson: I guess I'll take two of the same kind. Would you please wrap them up separately?
Salesgirl: Yes madam. I'll pack them in two boxes and then wrap the boxes in beautiful paper.
Mrs. Anderson: Great, thanks a lot.
Salesgirl: You're welcome. Are you going to pay in cash or by credit card?
Mrs. Anderson: In cash.
Salesgirl: Okay, please go over to Register 4 12. It's over there on your left.
Cashier: Okay, two dolls come to $53.40... out of $55... Here is your change, $1.60. Thank you. Have a nice day.
Mrs. Anderson: You too.

Passage
An Elderly Customer

She was ninety. She came to the store to buy a wedding anniversary 5 present. Obviously 6 she hadn't gone out shopping for a long, long time, because she was very surprised at the prices.
She wanted a nice shopping basket. The salesgirl asked, "Would you like this one?" She sayed, "How much is it?" The salesgirl told her that it is $9. She said, "Oh my dear, prices these days!"
Anyway, in the end she settled for a glass bowl. It was $8 and it was very nice. She asked the salesgirl to pack the glass bowl. The salesgirl found a blue box, put the bowl in it, and wrapped it up in a nice-looking way. Then the woman customer came to the cashier to pay for the glass bowl. She asked, "I don't carry money with me, can I pay for it with my credit card? Or I'll send my son here on Monday if you only accept cash." The cashier said she could pay with her credit card. There was no need to send her son here.
This really made the salesgirl feel amused. The old woman was one of the most interesting customers the salesgirl had ever met.
