[00:07.51]A young but earnest Zen student approached his teacher,and asked the Zen Master:
[00:13.86]“If I work very hard and diligently 1 how long will it take for me to find Zen.”
[00:20.75]The Master thought about this, then replied, “Ten years.”
[00:25.89]The student then said,“But what if I work very, very hard and really apply myself to learn fast — How long then?”
[00:35.95]Replied the Master, "Well, twenty years."
[00:40.00]“But, if I really, really work at it. How long then?” asked the student.
[00:45.90]“Thirty years,” replied the Master.
[00:48.09]“But, I do not understand,” said the disappointed student.
[00:52.36]“At each time that I say I will work harder,you say it will take me longer.Why do you say that?”
[00:59.25] Replied the Master, “When you have one eye on the goal, you only have one eye on the path.”
