Hi, I'm Naamua Delaney at the CNN Center in Atlanta, here is a look at what's happening Now In The News.
Prosecutors 1 have opened a perjury 2 investigation 3 against Democratic Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick following a newspaper report about some steamy text messages he sent to a top aide. Last summer Kilpatrick testified he had no romantic relationship with the woman, but the messages appear to contradict that. A city workers' union is calling on the mayor to resign.
The FBI says a teenager plotted to hijack 4 a plane possibly to commit suicide. The sixteen-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday night after flying from Los Angeles to Nashville. Authorities say he had handcuffs, duct tape and rope in his bag. Southwest Airlines says nothing threatening happened during the flight. The FBI says that it has no information on the report the teen wanted to crash the plane into a Hannah Montana concert scheduled tonight in Louisiana.
Palestinian bullbozers have broken through new areas of the border fence between Gaza and Egypt. Clashes erupted when Egyptian soldiers tried to stop the flow of Palestinians crossing into Egypt. Tens of thousands of people have been rushing to buy much needed supplies.
Democratic congressman 5 Dennis Kucinich is officially ending his campaign for president. He made the announcement just a short time ago. Kucinich said he built transition out of the White House racing 6 into a campaign for another term in Congress. Kucinich won just 1% of the vote in the New Hampshire primary. The six-term Ohio congressman faces a tough re-election campaign.
Britney Spears has another court day today unrelated to her ongoing 7 child custody 8 battle. This time, it's a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license 9. It stems from a Van Nuys California fender bender last August. The parking lot collision was caught on camera. A hit-and-run charge against Spears was dismissed when she paid for the damage to the other car.
