The Poetry of earth is never dead:
When all the birds are faint with the hot sun,
And hide in cooling trees, a voice will run
From hedge to hedge about the new-mown mead 2;
That is the Grasshopper’s—he takes the lead
In summer luxury,—he has never done
With his delights; for when tired out with fun
He rests at ease beneath some pleasant weed.
The poetry of earth is ceasing never:
On a lone 3 winter evening, when the frost
Has wrought 4 a silence, from the stove there shrills 5
The Cricket’s song, in warmth increasing ever,

蝈蝈与蛐蛐
夏天，所有的鸟
都热晕了
躲在绿荫里不出声
只有蝈蝈开心地
在草地和树篱间歌唱
累了，就找一片大叶子
睡上一觉
冬天，雪花纷飞
好安静啊
蛐蛐在火炉边
哼一支小曲
它越唱越带劲
嗓门那么大
我迷迷糊糊的，觉得
这就是夏天山坡上
唱歌的那只蝈蝈。
1 grasshopper
