Carmen: Here it is. I ask the school to postpone 1 [post·pone](v. 推迟)sending this. Because, Dad, I wanted to surprise you! [把自己的成绩单给父亲看，非常自豪]Ta-da, straight [streɪt] A’s(成绩全A)!
Dad: That’s fantastic [fan'tas·tic] (好极了).
Carmen: Dad, I brought my tennis gear [gɪr] (n. 工具) and I have been practicing like crazy! [兴奋地继续想象和父亲一起过暑假会有多快乐]So, I want you to serve [sə:v] (v. 发球) to me up to your absolute [æb·so·lute] hardest (用你最猛烈的方式), OK?
Dad: I’ll do that.
Carmen: [期待无比] You know, I was calculating ['cal·cu·lat·ing] (v.计算) it on the train. I haven’t spent more than four straight days with you since I was ten. I mean, I love it when you come for Christmas, but...[突然发现车子开的方向不对]wait, where are we?

Carmen: And into a development(n. 新开发区)? Dad, you hate developments!
