John: Hello, You're listening to Real English from BBC Learning English. I'm John.
Helen: And I'm Helen.
John: Here on Real English, you can learn words and phrases which you might not find in your dictionary.
Helen: That's right. 希望您在今天的地道英语节目中能学到一些平时在字典里找不到的英语表达。So, what's our phrase of the day? John?
John: Today we're going to learn about the word – chuck, c-h-u-c-k, chuck.
Helen: So what does it mean? 这个表达是什么意思呢？
John: Chuck is an informal expression.
Helen: 是一个通俗表达， an informal expression.
John: It means to throw something over, or throw something out carelessly.
Helen: Carelessly, 很随便的， 这个chuck 的意思是很随便的把东西扔到一边儿去。
John: That's right. Let's hear some examples.
Examples:
A: Sid, you're making a right mess on the dinning 1 table, if you don't tidy it up by this evening, I'm going to chuck all your stuff out.
B: God! The CD player is broken again. It's just so annoying.
C: You should just chuck it, CD players are so cheap now, you can pick a new one up for ten pounds.
B: Yeah, you're right. This one is going in the bin 2.
Helen: 看来chuck 的确是一个非常通俗的表达，听起来我也觉得非常随便。
John: That's right, it's a very casual expression and you hear people saying it all the time.
Helen: 那好我们复习一下，chuck 的意思就是把什么东西随便扔了吧。
John: We can chuck our scripts now, we're done.
