Exercise 4-11 :
Voiced and Unvoiced Sounds with T
This exercise is for the practice of the difference between words that end in either a vowel 1 or a voiced consonant 2,
which means that the vowel is lengthened 3 or doubled.
Therefore, these words are on a much larger, longer stairstep.
Words that end in an unvoiced consonant are on a smaller, shorter stairstep.
This occurs whether the vowel in question is tense or lax.

1 vowel
n.元音;元音字母
- A long vowel is a long sound as in the word"shoe ".长元音即如“shoe” 一词中的长音。
- The vowel in words like 'my' and 'thigh' is not very difficult.单词my和thigh中的元音并不难发。
2 consonant
n.辅音;adj.[音]符合的
- The quality of this suit isn't quite consonant with its price.这套衣服的质量和价钱不相称。
- These are common consonant clusters at the beginning of words.这些单词的开头有相同辅音组合。
3 lengthened
(时间或空间)延长,伸长( lengthen的过去式和过去分词 )
- The afternoon shadows lengthened. 下午影子渐渐变长了。
- He wanted to have his coat lengthened a bit. 他要把上衣放长一些。
