  24 Making judgement

Are you the type of person that is quick to judge? I often make the mistake of quickly judging someone. You've probably heard the expression, "Don't judge a book by its cover". But, it's hard not to. In this fast-food world, where everything travels faster and faster, and we are still not satisfied. It's hard not to make quick judgement.

We channel surf, and people surf too.

I think it's easy to critisize others, and it's easy to critisize ourselves. I would have to say that I'm my worst critic. I'm pretty hard on myself. How about you?

Do you consider yourself to be a fairly understanding person? Critisizing yourself a little bit is ok. Actually I think it's important to laugh at yourself, even to tease 1 yourself. Better you tease yourself than others. Rodney Dangerfield, a famous American comedian 2, passed away not too long ago, he has many one-liners, where he put himself down.Would you like to hear one of the silly things he said?

He said,"I told my psychiatrist 3 that everyone hates me, he said I was being rediculous. Everyone hasn't met me yet".

Recently, I'm trying to be less critical of people, and even myself. When I'm in a judgement mood, I even try to laugh a little, what do you do?

Talk about it:

1)are you a critical person?

2)what do you usually criticize 4?

3)how do you feel when people criticize you?

4)are you good at laughing at yourself?

5)how important are first impressions to you?

6)do you ever judge people before you meet them?

7)are you able to change the first impression of a person later on?

8)what do you do to make a good first impression?

9)how do you decide whether to change something about youself?

10)would you change something about yourself if a close friend or relative pointed 5 out a fault?
