Lesson 51 Mother Knows best
Yesterday Gretel ant on an excursion 1 with the Clarks. Mother was 2 driving so that she could 4 get some practice 5 and father as 3 sitting beside her. He wasn't always very helpful 6! "We must get on to the A3," he said 7. "That's the road which will take us to the south coast 8." Neither 9 mother nor 10 father knew the way to the A3 so they had 11 to stop to ask a policemen.
"Excuse me," mother said. "Could you please tell me the way to the A3?"
"Yes, madam," the officer 12 said. "Take the first turning 13 on your right and continue 14 along 15 the road till 16 you come to a cinema. Turn left at the cinema and go straight 17 on. This will bring you to the A3."
"Thank you, officer," mother said.
Mother drove 18 on, but she didn't turn right. "We're going 19 in the wrong direction," father cried. " Why didn't you turn right? If you had turned right back there, we would 20 have come to the A3."
"Oh, be quiet, Jim." mother said. "That policeman made 21 a mistake 22, If I had turned right back there. I would have been in serious 23 trouble 24. It was a one-way street!"
