 The Federal Reserve has just announced it's winding 1 back its long-running stimulus 2 program. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke says the Central Bank is cutting its bond-buying program by 10 billion dollars a month. The program was designed to prop 3 up an ailing 4 US economy, but there's since been a drop in unemployment.


 
Thirty Greenpeace activists 5, including Tasmanian Colin Russel, are set to avoid trial after Russia's parliament approved an amnesty bill. The Arctic 30 were charged with hooliganism over a protest at a Russian oil rig in September and they were facing up to seven years jail. Russia is now tipped to drop legal proceedings 6 against the group.
 
Prime Minister Tony Abbott has flagged he's open to negotiation 7 to get his paid parental 8 leave scheme through the senate. The Opposition 9 has criticised the scheme, but the Greens say they'll support it subject to changes.

Puneet Puneet was driving at high speed in 2008 when he hit two students in Melbourne, killing 12 24-year-old Dean Hofstee. Puneet fled to India, but he was arrested last month.
 
One of Britain's most notorious criminals has died at the age of 84. Ronnie Biggs was best-known for his role in the Great Train roberry 50 years ago and spending decades on the run. He died in a care home in north London.
