BP must publicly release information about the toxical material released during the worst oil disaster in US history. NPR's Debby Elliott reports the Federal appeal court says that the disclosure is required under the emergency plan in community right-to-know act.
The Fed XX court of appeal ruled BP must disclose what has these materials released in its 2010 wide blowout in the Gulf 6 of Mexico. And specified 7 the anticipated health risks associated with the release. An environmental group the center for biological diversity had sued to force the disclosures and seek fine under other Federal environmental laws include the clean water act. The federal appeals court rejected those claims, but agreed that BP had not met its obligations under the community right to know act. BP argued the information was already available on government websites, but the court found that it was not readily accessible to the public. BP faced trails on next month on several charges brought by the federal and state governments. Debby Elliott NPR news.
