A cyberattack has set the federal government, officials with the officer personnel management OPM says it happened in April and it could affect personnel data from both current and former employees. OPM says it would sent notices to around 4 million individuals whose personnel information may have been compromised. It is not the first time OPM's computers have been hacked 1. Chinese hackers 2 were suspected in a previous similar breach 3 and FBI and the department of homeland security are now investigating.
Former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak will once again stand trial for the killing 4 the protesters in the 2012 upraising against him. NPR's LF reports Mubarak was previously 5 sentenced to life in prison, but that was overturned on appeal.
Egypt hight court allowed the decision to drop the keys against Mubarak. The original decision last year not to prosecute 6 caused an outcry among many Egyptian activists 7 who blamed Mubarak for the nearly 1000 people killed during the upraising that forced him from power. The new trial will begin November fifth, Mubarak and his sons were previously sentenced to 3 years in jail in a retrial of corruption 8 case.
A longtime head of New York city's largest police unit faces an electoral challenge for the first time over a decade. As NPR'S J reports those ballots 9 will be counted tomorrow.
Union president PL jumped into the national debate over policing when he said New York's mayor had quoted blood on his hands after two MIPD officers were shot and killed December. Lanch has led the Patrolmen's Benevolent 10 Associations since 1999. It's been years since anyone even grant to against him. P Lanch's watched the union's 23000 members have been working without a new contract for 5 years. And now L faces two challengers--federal officers B and R. They say Lanch's public fight with mayor B has distracted him from addressing the real concerns of ...officials.
There are now ten major candidates vowing 11 for the republican nomination 12 for president. Former Taxes governor R is taking another step, announcing his candidacy today, saying he wants to undo 13 what he calls the failure of Obama administration.
P was an instant frontrunner in the republican race 4 years ago but failed after an embarrassing moment when he could not remember which federal agencies he want to close.
