Taking a look at the satellite image now. Cloud over the southeast in a trough is triggering storms. Patchy cloud along Queensland and northen New South Wales is causing showers. Cloud across the north is causing rain and storms with a tropical low causing heavy rain near Western Australia and the Northern Territory border.

Around the states now, the tropical low over far north Queensland is expected to develop into a cyclone 1 later today. Weather Bureau says that the impact on the state will diminish as it moves away from the coast. Mostly fine elsewhere.

In New South Wales, isolated 2 showers and afternoon thunderstorms over the southern ranges. There’s a chance of a shower or two above the far north coast and mostly sunny elsewhere.

Victoria can expect morning drizzle 3 in the south and isolated showers and thunderstorms over the east. It’s fine in Tasmania until patchy drizzle developed in the north and rain developed in the west at night. A mild to warm day ahead.

A fine and mostly clear day for South Australia. Moderate southwest to southeast winds over the southern agricultural areas. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms across most of Western Australia.

Northern Territory can expect rain areas with possible heavy falls over the Top End. Isolated afternoon showers and storms north of Tenan Creek 4. Fine elsewhere.

Looking ahead to Monday around the capitals now: Brisbane fine; Sydney, partly cloudy, Melbourne and Hobart, a few showers; Perth, scattered 5 showers, and Darwin, showers with a possible storm.
