Hello, Melissa Hamilton with the National Weather.

Checking the satellite image first, and you can see thick cloud swirling 1 over Queensland from Ex-Tropical Cyclone 2 Olga. That’s causing rain and storms over most of the state. A monsoon 3 trough over the tropics is triggering heavy falls there, but skies are mostly clear elsewhere.

Around the states now, Queensland can expect rain in most parts with heavier falls in the central west and southern interior. There’s still a severe weather warning for the Gulf 4 Country and Torres Strait.

That’s rain will extend down to New South Wales. There will be scattered 5 showers and isolated 6 thunderstorms in all areas except for the southwest.

A fine hot day for Victoria, just a chance of isolated showers and a light storm over the eastern highlands.

Tasmania will see some patchy morning drizzle 7 above the north, but the rest of the state should be mostly fine.

A warm mostly sunny day too for South Australia, just a chance of some scattered showers above the northeast.

Western Australia can expect a little morning drizzle above the south coast and southern interior.

Further north, showers and storms for the western Pilbara and Kimberley and for the Top End. The rest of the territory should be mostly fine and very hot.

Looking ahead to Monday now. Showers for Brisbane and Sydney. Clear in Canberra, Melbourne, Hobart and Adelaide. A fine day in Perth with a top of 34 degrees there. And a light storm for Darwin.
