Where is your pain?

Is your cut still painful?

Do you feel pain after meals?

How was your leg hurt?

Have you lost weight recently?

Have you got any chronic 7 disease before?

Do you feel short of breath?

Describing symptoms:

I’ve got this pain in my ear , a sore throat and keep losing my voice.

I’ve had bad cough and my chest aches.. .

I’ve got headache and I feel chilly 8.

I have a stomach ache.

I’m aching all over.

I feel like vomiting 9.

I’m suffering from insomnia 10 (失眠).

About the time when it started:

When did it start?

How long have you been like this?

When did the pain start?

When did it happen?

When did you begin feeling unwell?

Examining and advising:

Let me take you blood pressure.

I’ll take your blood count first.

Please go and take a stool test.

I’ll just give you a prescription 11.

Take one of these pills three times a day after meals.

Drink this mixture four times a day one measure each time.

You must take this medicine two times a day.

Dialogue 1

A: I have a terrible tooth ache.

B: Which tooth is it?

A: This one here.

B: Ar , Yes. There’s a big cavity.

A: Can you fill it?

B: I’m afraid not. The tooth is too far gone. it'll have to be taken out.

A: Then I might as well have it done now.

B: you’d better wait, the gums are swollen 12. Take the medicine I prescribe and come back in three days.

A: I think it’s my ankle.

B: What happened?

B: Can you stand ?

A: I don’t think so. It’s kind of sore.

B: what I have to give you a hospital for an ex-treat.

A: It’s that really necessary?

B: It maybe worse than it seems.

A: How’s your feel?

B: About the same.

A: Someone will be out to take a look in a minute now.

B: Should we be here ,Alice? I don’t think that serious.

A: Of course. It’s a sort of thing a hospital emergency work is for. Will we have to wait much longer?

B: I hope not .it isn’t that busy.

Dialogue 3:

A; What seems to the trouble Mr Brown?

B: I’m in pretty bad shape ,Doctor Ford 13.

A: Oh , In what way.

B: No appetite ,always unaged and I can’t sleep well.

A: Did you lose any weight?

B: YES. I’ve lost quite a few pounds since last month.

A: when was the last time you have track up?

B: About two month ago.

A: Let me take your blood pressure. You look animic. Well ,Mr.Brown .I’m happy to say it’s nothing serious. You just a little run down from overwork.

B: What am I suppose to do?

A: I think you’ll needs just vacation. Try to get out doors more. I’ll be sure if you get more rest.

B: Thank you ,doctor. I’ll do what you say.

Dialogue 4:

A: What wrong with you? You look pale?

B: I’m not sure . I feel hot and cold.

A: When did the trouble start?

B: I was sick most od night.

A: It sounds like you’re coming down with the flu.

B: Let me take your temperature.

A; Have I got high fever?

B: Yes. Thirty-eight point seven. Do you have a headache,chestache or throat pain?

A: Yes , I have.

B: Now ,Let me have a look at you. I’d like to listen to your chest. Breathe then , deep breath, that’s it. Cough, now again. I want to exam your throat too. Open wide ,say A.

A: ah.

B: Yes, It does a bit sore.

A: Let’s take your extra way of your chest and give you a few tests.

B: All right, thanks.

A: The tests showed nothing wrong.

B: a slight by infection .What shall I do today?

A: I’m giving you some antibiotic 14 and aspirin 15. Taking aspirin when you’ve got a fever and take one antibiotic until four hours and go home lie in bed for two days. Take some water then you feel better.
