They came to cheer British success and they got it. This team GB made history in Rio led by the first couple of cycling. Laura Trott and Jason Kenny engaged. When they marry, they can exchange medals as well as rings. Between them they now have ten Olympic golds, more than most countries after nine when they wrote to new records.

First Trott dominating the multi-event Omnium to win her 4th gold, the most by a British woman. For their home prop 1, those delight and pride.

“She’s always done a 110% in all the training, and you know, you see the end, the smart and public character. It is fantastic to see an inspiration to have other young cyclists out there. I think there’s thousands of young girls now riding bikes that probably wouldn’t have been if it wasn’t for Laura. So that’s fantastic.”

Then came Kenny, emerging from a controversial Keirin race with his third gold of the Games and his sixth in total, taking a pass with Steve Redgrave and level with Sir Chris Hoy with to become the lowest profile Great British Olympian.

“Well, it’s incredible. I mean, Kenny is so quiet about it. I know when he’s really big to hope, on one really X. Eight medals, and that was phenomenal what he is doing, you know. And Chris, when he’s got six, it was such a big thing. Jason kind of goes off the radar 2 low orbit to get some of it. And...wow, it’s great to see, you know. ”

British domination of track cycling has left most of their rivals baffled and sum skeptical 3. The fans however, just can’t believe their luck.

“What a night for Great Britain. I mean, those cyclists, we came into thinking that there was going to be hardly any performance and hardly any medals this year. And they have just wiped the floor with everybody else. It’s absolutely fantastic.”

“Such a brilliant cycling changing.”

“Yeah, in a few years time, the next generation.”

“A fantastic evening.”

British success was not confined to the track. Another great day included gold for sailor Gile Scott in the Finn class and six other medals, including a bronze for 16-year-old gymnast Amy Tinkler, taking the team pass it’s goal of 47 to 50 medals.in total.

So thanks in large part of what the cycling team has achieved in the X this week, team GB have already hit that target and exceeded expectations. Four days of competition left, it is already Britain’s most successful ever overseas Games. Signs are now set on the 65 medals they won in London.
