Yang Lan: Could you describe to us when the first idea of Titanic 1 brought to you and what did you react 2 to it? How did you react to it?
Murdoth: Well, Cameron is under contract 3 to make his films or give all his first ideas to us and he pushed very hard to make this story. He was quite 1)passionate. He wanted to do it. And we were very nervous because there had been 2)previous pictures about Titanic and pictures that are made out on the sea always go over 3)budget, can be very expensive. But he just wouldn’t let go of the idea. He drove 4 it and drove it and drove it. And we finally said yes and then when we saw what we thought it would cost, we said well we’ll do it, we’ll run up, but it would be nice to have a partner. So we invited another 4)studio to put up quite a lot of money, which they did. And they’ve done well too.

杨澜：您能跟我们谈谈最初《铁达尼号》的计划吗，它是什么时候拿给您，您当初的反应又是怎么样的？
梅铎：卡麦伦跟我们签了合同，要拍这个电影，或者把他所有的想法卖给我们。他努力想做到这一点。他这个人很有激情。他想拍这个电影，我们当时很为难，因为早就有人拍以铁达尼号为题材的电影了，而且，电影要在海上拍，在海上拍的电影一般要超出预算，会很昂贵的。不过他就是不肯放弃这个主意。他努力了无数次，下了狠心，最后我们同意了。后来我们谈到我们想到的可能的费用，我们说，好啊，我们让你拍，我们包了。不过要是有一个合作伙伴就好了。这样我们就请了另外一个制作公司，他们投了很大一笔钱。他们做得也相当不错。
