萝丝（艾咪亚当斯饰）漂亮而开朗，高中时期是人人羡慕的啦啦队长，但她从没想到自己的未来，会是一个单亲妈妈，靠著担任女佣的微薄收入养家，苦苦守候著有妇之夫的男友，她的姐妹诺拉（爱蜜莉布朗饰）则是失业已久与老爸乔（亚伦阿金饰）同住。
为了将小孩送上好学校，萝丝说服诺拉一同展开了「特别清扫服务」，清理閒弃的命案现场以赚取大笔收入，在执业的期间，萝丝终於看清了自己的人生，而诺拉则为自己找到了兴趣....
