The UN envoy 1 for Syria has said the current round of peace talks is to run through December 15, as he downplayed the need for face-to-face meetings while playing up how the two sides were physically 2 closer.
Staffan de Mistura on Thursday held the first news conference since talks began formally a day earlier with the arrival of the Syrian government envoys 3.The Syrian opposition 4 delegation 5 arrived for the start of the talks on Tuesday.The new round of the talks was originally scheduled to close on Dec. 1.
