The streets of Cape Town came to life as the seventh annual Cape Town Carnival paraded its way down the city’s main streets. More than 50 talented community groups performed dances and acts that represented their interpretation of the street life theme.
Fabulous floats, intricate puppetry and eye-catching acts. This year’s procession was guaranteed to be the best Carnival Cape Town has ever seen. The street party celebrates diversity, creativity and cultural understanding. More than 50,000 attended the event, with some dressed in costume.
Organizers of the annual carnival say their aim is to bring South Africans and tourists worldwide together, to celebrate South African people's heritage and culture.
Under this year’s theme of street life, designers, artists, inventors, students, entrepreneurs and sponsors dreamed up a fleet of floats that defied convention, and celebrated creativity and diversity.
