  Pete Little

The Little had 2 a green and yellow parakeet.His name was 3 Pete.

"Clever Pete,"said 4 Jonathan Little to the parakeet,and the parakeet said,"Clever Pete,"back to Jonathan.

"I want my parakeet to say his name and address,"said Jonathan."Pete,say...I am Pete Little,10 Hill Road."

Day after day Jonathan said,"Say this,Pete.Say...I am Pete Little,10 Hill Road."

Jonathan's Mom and Dad said it,too.

But Pete did 5 not say it he said, "Clever Pete."

One day, someone 6 left the window open, and pete flew 7 away. Away went pete.

He flew on. He flew up the road and into the trees. Then Pete flew down to a garden. Mrs. Grey 8 saw 9 him.

Pete said, "Clever Pete," but then he said. "I am Pete Little, 10 Hill Road." "You clever bird!" said Mrs. Grey. "I will take you inside 10."

She looked in her phone book to find the Littles' phone number. "Is that Mrs Little?Your green parakeet came 11 into my garden and said 'I am Pete Little,10 Hill Road'." "Did he? That's good! Oh, thank you! Where are you?" "Come to 3 Downs Road, "I'm Ann Grey."

The Littles went to get pete. "Clever Pete," smiled Jonathan. "You said your name and address."
