Joe Hockey will use today's party review meeting to try to calm backbench nerves over the May budget. Tensions flied very publically yesterday over reports of another cut to foreign aid was in the cuts. Tropical cyclone 5 Nathan is continuing to menace the top end this morning. Nathan is expected to cross the coast between Goulburn Island and M. sometime this morning before weakening and that heading towards Darwin. Hundreds of people were evacuated 6 from Goulburn Island yesterday.
The country's leading mental health group is warning the sector 7 is close to crisis because of uncertainty of funding. Seventy groups have written an open letter to the prime minister and the health minister. Hundreds of services are due to run out of funding at the end of June.
And police are questioning a man over a fatal stabbing in Sydney overnight. Paramedics were called to Mascot 8 in the city's east where 1 20-year-old man was believed to be in cardiac arrest. The man had been stabbed in the chest and died at the scence. Police later arrested a 21-year-old man who is now assiting numbers of inquires.
