Fourteen injured people sent to Taining County hospital in the eastern province of Fujian are now in a stable condition. Doctors say most of the injured were treated for bone fractures. Three of them are severely injured with multiple broken bones and soft tissue injuries. Some of the patients could be discharged in two or three days.
Authorities earlier said a hundred doctors had immediately been sent to Taining County hospital from surrounding medical facilities. Doctors and experts are providing the injured with psychological counselling as well as medical treatment.
"The sludge has infiltrated the wounds, some can avoid infection by debridement. The injured with weakened immune systems or with serious wounds could be infected, so we need to pay more attention to that. But all the injured workers are in stable conditions, including the three that were most seriously injured. The workers with bruises can go home in two or three days. And we are providing them with both psychological counselling and medical treatment," Li Xiaoqiang, director of surgery of Taining County Hospital, said.
