A suicide truck bomb attack has killed at least 60 people and wounded dozens at a security checkpoint in central Iraq.
The attack took place on the outskirts of Hilla, the capital of Babil province. A suicide bomber drove an explosive-laden truck into the crowded checkpoint at the northern entrance to the city around midday.
Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack. Islamic State has frequently targetted areas where large crowds gather, including checkpoints, markets, cafes and mosques across Iraq.
