The leaders of the Communist Party of China and the Taiwan-based Kuomintang party have met in Beijing.
Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of Kuomintang party Eric Chu have discussed the two parties' exchanges and relations across the Taiwan Straits.
During the meeting, Xi Jinping called for the mainland and Taiwan to build a community of shared destiny and settle political differences through equal consultations 1.

Chinese Premier 3 Li Keqiang has met with Helen Clark, administrator 4 of the United Nations Development Programme.
As part of the meeting with the former New Zealand Prime Minister, Li Keqiang says China wants to see the United Nations play a bigger role in international affairs.
For her part, Clark says the UNDP would like to see more Chinese involvement in poverty reduction and sustainable development.
