It’s been a long journey for these Haitian children. Now in the United States, they are about to start a new life with their adoptive parents.

Because of the earthquake, um, the children were released to their parents that they're at homes waiting for them, and we’re very thankful and excited to have two new additions to our family.

Around 80 orphans 1 arrived in Miami, where anxious parents were waiting to meet them. The children are from an orphanage 2 in Haiti’s capital Port-au-Prince, ravaged 3 by the recent earthquake. Some of the families here were overjoyed their children survived the disaster.

This is our little miracle boy right here, uh, just came in early this morning from Haiti, we’ve been in the adoption 4 process for over two years, and we’ve known about this little guy for about six months, and that we've been here for a long hual,  that there is a long way in front of us, but because of the earthquake, things change. We'll be able to bring him home sooner than we expected.

We’ve got here, um, for sake of the earthquake, we were devastated 5, we were scared whether she was alive or not, and then we were worried about her paper work.

In France, around 30 children were fast tracked through the French system after the earthquake, the worst natural disaster since the 2004 Indonesian tsunami 6. Parents waited anxiously to meet the new additions to their families, some were overcome with emotion. Among those, also welcoming with taggers was France’s first lady Carla Bruni.
