Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has met with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Uzbekistan, during sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting. Both ministers vowed to bring their comprehensive partnership to new heights.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on Tuesday highlighted the strength of their bilateral ties and common positions on international issues in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Wang said China is willing to work closely with Russia to ensure Russian President Vladimir Putin's upcoming visit will be a successful one. He called for joint intensified efforts in the construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt, and the Eurasian Economic Union. Wang underlined the significant roles China and Russia play in international and regional issues, and vowed to further political solutions in various issues.
Lavrov said Russia has always put its relations with China as a priority. He said Russia welcomes the bilateral and multilateral deals reached with countries around the South China Sea, and supports political solutions to the disputes in the region.
