CCTV9英语新闻：China proposes step-by-step approach to Syrian crisis

China has proposed adopting a step-by-step approach to deal with the conflict in Syria. The Chinese special envoy to Syria, Xie Xiaoyan, spoke to CCTV after international talks in Vienna.
"We need to adhere to the principle of "doing simple things first" in solving the Syrian crisis, as it is the most complex international situation I've ever seen. Syrian issues involve different groups which include domestic parties and international powers,"
"It is extremely difficult for them to reach a consensus. Therefore, we need to start discussion on what they have in common and then move forward. That means all parties need to make the necessary compromises to meet each other halfway," said Xie.
