China's Ministry of National Defense says recent military drills held off the southeastern Chinese coast are routine and have no specific purpose.
At a press briefing Wednesday, a spokesperson said the exercises involving Chinese air, navy and ground forces are simply part of the scheduled annual training program. They are aimed at reviewing and improving the capabilities of tackling security threats and completing military tasks.
