There is good and bad news 1 about trees. The good news is there are seven times more than we thought 2. Scientists 3 thought we had 4 400 billion 5 trees, but we have three trillion. That's a three followed by 12 zeroes 6. For each person 7 alive 8 today, there are 420 trees. A researcher 9 said 10 these numbers were not good or bad news.

The bad news is that we once had six trillion trees. We lost three trillion trees. Europe 11 was 12 once a giant 13 forest 14. Now it is fields 15 and cities. Another 15 billion trees are lost each year. This is a lot more than 100 years ago. The researcher said we must do more to make forests 16 healthy again.
