I travelled east, following the Yangtze to a small historic site close to the river just outside the booming city of Chongqing.

Hidden in the gorge 2 close to the river, the Dazu rock carvings are some of the few religious artifacts in China not to have been destroyed during communist rule. Dating back to 650 AD, there were more than 50,000 statues h* the rock here.
