Horse-powered garbage hauler runs on city road
A video out of Yunnan showing what appears to be a horse-driven garbage carriage has gone viral in China.
The local sanitation 1 department is denying the antiquated 2 garbage hauling method.
A local claiming to have seen the man on numerous occasions has provided an alternate suggestion. "I had chat with him before, he is a farmer living in the countryside and feeds quite a bit of livestock 3, so he often goes to vegetable markets to collect leftovers 4 and leaves as forage 5 in the evening," said the witness. "He thinks using garbage truck can help him avoid checks by the police," he added.
While almost non-existent in today's major cities in China, carts pulled by draught 6 animals, including horses and mules 7, can still sometimes be found in smaller cities, particularly in the rural areas of the country.
