February 27th, 1933In Berlin, fire gets Germany's parliament building, the Reichstag. The Nazis 1 blame the Communists and use the fire to justify 2 suspending civil liberties, setting up a dictatorship under Adolf Hitler.
1991,“Kuwait is liberated 3. Iraq's army is defeated. Our military objectives are met.” President George H.W. Bush announces a cease-fire ending the Persian Gulf 4 War. That happens after an American-led coalition 5 drives Iraqi forces out of neighboring Kuwait. Iraq's leader Saddam Hussein remains 6 in power until a U.S.-led invasion in 2003 topples his regime.
1932,“You see, George didn't have much push, he wasn't particularly aggressive. In fact, he was sort of a flop 7!” Actress Elizabeth Taylor, known for volatile 8 movie roles and a well-publicized personal life, is born in London.
And, 2003,“It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood, a beautiful day for a neighbor. Would you be mine? Could you be mine? ”Fred Rogers, host of the popular children's TV show “Mister Rogers' Neighborhood”, dies in Pittsburgh at the age 74.
