A lower trough over WA is generating showers and potentially severe thunderstorms. Southwesterlies are generating occasional showers in southern Victoria and Tasmania. A low pressure system is causing thundery showers in the tropics.
Looking around the country.
Queensland will be mostly fine with some scattered 1 showers above the central and northeast coasts.
Fine and mostly sunny in New South Wales.
In Victoria, the southern coast and ranges will have some morning showers and drizzle 2 ahead of a fine and mostly sunny afternoon.
Isolated 3 showers in the south of Tasmania clearing in the afternoon.
To South Australia, possible isolated showers near the western border this afternoon.
Western Australia can expect showers and thunderstorms over central and eastern parts of the state. And in the southwest, heavy falls are possible in the Kimberley.
And in the Northern Territory, isolated showers and storms above the west and north.
Looking ahead now to tomorrow's forecast for the capital cities. Fine in Brisbane, Sydney and Canberra. A possible shower in Melbourne. Afternoon rain for Hobart with chance of a shower or storm in Adelaide. Sunny in Perth and an afternoon storm for Darwin.
