Chinese President Xi Jinping is calling for China and Vietnam to work together to mend ties amid recent tensions between the two countries.
He has made the comments while meeting with a special envoy 1 of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam's Central Committee here in Beijing.
The two sides have already agreed to avoid any actions that might worsen their dispute, promising 2 they will implement 3 a basic guideline for the resolution of their maritime 4 issues signed back in 2011.
The two sides have also agreed to study and discuss joint 5 exploration of the South China Sea.
A new report from an independent United Nations commission has found both government forces and armed groups in Syria, including the Islamic State, have committed mass atrocities 6 in the country.
The findings are the result of interviews and evidence collected between January and July of this year.
In the report, the Independent International Commission of Inquiry 7 on Syria notes there have been widespread and systematic 8 killing 9 of civilians 10 by the Islamic State, which now controls much of northern and eastern Syria.
While the same report suggests that the Syrian government have used chemical weapons. Such chemical weapons were supposed to be handed over to the international community earlier this year.
