 Ukrainian lawmakers are giving presidential powers to the speaker of the parliament, seemingly ousting 1 president Viktor Yanukovych, though he has not seeded power. NPR's Nathan Rott reports the US is pledging its support to the Ukrainian people. 


 
Speaking on ABC's Meet the Press, Sunday, national secretary advisor 2, Susan Rice made it very clear what the Obama administration supports Ukraine's fast moving political changes. 
 
The United States's on the side of the Ukrainian people. 
 
Rice says the agreement Ukraine's parliament is planning to follow should be a positive step for the country. 
 
We are gonna have a unity 3 government, we are gonna have new turn elections, we are gonna have constitutional reform, and that reflex the will of Ukrainian people and the interest of the United States in Europe. 
 
Rice also said the US will help provide financial aid to Ukrainian economy with the international monetary 4 fund. Nathan Rott NPR News. 
 
Federal prosecutors 5 in New York say they are going to seek the extradition 6 of drug cartel Kingpin Joaquin Guzman. He was captured this weekend by Mexican and US authorities in a Mexican resort town. As head of the notorious  Sinaloa Cartel, Guzman was the world's most wanted drug lord. He evaded 7 capture for 13 years. He's facing a variety of charges in the US. 
 
Netflix has agreed to pay Comcast to make assure its customers get better access to its programming. NPR's Jim Zarroli reports the deal could set a president in the cable business. 
 
Some Netflix customers have complained that they entered buffering 8 when they tried to watch programs like house of cards, through their local internet service providers. Netflix said the deal with Comcast will give customers a better user experience. A source from no year with the deal, said Netflix will pay Comcast to connect more directly to its customers by passing some of the internet companies that now access middlemen for digital traffic. For Comcast, the deal results what had threatened to become a big public relations problems. At a time, when it's seeking government of approval of its proposed merger 9 with Time Warner Cable. The 2014 winter Olympics have come to a close. The international Olympic committee chairman held the games a success and thanked Russian president Vladimir Putin for his personal commitment to the event. During the closing ceremony, US short track speed skater  Jon Eley said he really believes in the Olympic spirit. 
 
The Olympics hosts the world and brings all nations together, and you know, you study as basically being your nation, and competing as your nation, and you ended with relationships started with the entire world, you konw, a connection of bond, with the restive 10, with the rest of world.

The UN human rights office reports and alarming upsurging executions in Iran since the beginning of last year. Lisa Schlein  in Geneva reports ABP won't have executed by some reports that put the figure as high as 95. 
 
The UN office say most people in Iran have been executed for drug related offenses 11. Spokeswoman RovinaShampDisonixx, says her office's particularly concerned by the secret executions last month of two members of minority group on ill-defined charges of enmity against god. 
 
They were allegedly denied to access to a lawyer and their families for the first nine months of their detention 12, and reportedly subjected to torture and force confessions 13
 
The UN reports Teheran executed between 500 and 625 last year including 57 in public. They included political prisoners and ethnic 14 minorities. The most common met the execution is by hanging. For NPR News, I'm Lisa Schlein  in Geneva. 
 
The price of gas has gone up over the last two weeks. The latest Lundberg survey says the average cost for a gallon of regular gasoline rose $0.12 to $3.41 per gallon, and few analyst 15 told the Lundberg, says it's likely prices will keep rising. 
 
Since retailers 16 have not finished passing through to moderate the hacks 17. They are paying at wholesale 18 by the few more cents to go. 
 
The current price is still $0.38 per gallon lower than last year. 
 
The superme court will hear arguements tomorrow over the government's plan to cut carbon emissions 19 and its straight groups are challenging the environmental protection agency over plans to require new power plants and factories to find ways to reduce heat trapping emissions.
