We begin tonight, keep them honest, trying to get answers from 5 republican members of Congress for alleging 1 massive infiltration 2 of the US government by radical 3 jihadist, members in the muslim brotherhood 4. Now today, one of those lawmakers, congresswoman Michelle Bachmann refuse to answer questions about her unproven claim that muslim extremes have infiltrated 5 the US government, and another lawmaker, republican John McCain took an extrordinary step when on the Senate Floor, calling Bachmann out on it.
When anyone, not least member of Congress, launches specious 6 and degrading a tax against fellows of Americans, and the basis of nothing more than fear of who they are and ignorance of what they stand for, it defames the spirit of our nation, and we all grow poorer because of it.
This almost never happened to a sitting member of congress, publically scolding other sitting members, let alone members of zone party, in this case, Senator McCain talked about congresswoman Bachmann and 4 from House Republican colleagues. As we've been reporting, they want the inspector 7 general, a 5 security agencies to look into what the Bachmann calls the possible deep penetration 8, her words: muslim extremes into the US government, but they are not just talking about a general conspiracy 9, they are actually pointing fingers at a particular person, this woman, Huma Abedin, Secretary of state Hillary Cliton's deputy chief of staff, implying that she might be somehow working on behalf of the muslim brotherhood and questioning how she even got security clearance 10, again Senator McCain today.
To say that the accusation 11 is made in both documents, not substantially achieved by the evidence they offer, it's to be overly impolitely diplomatic about it, it's far better, more accurate to talk straight, these allegations are about Huma Abedin and report from what's they are * are nothing less than a non-moral and non-founded attack on a honorable citizen, a dedicated 12 Amrican and a loyal public servant.
Now this is the 3rd night we've reporting the story and we've gotten some feedback from viewers on Twitts, wondering why we are giving congresswoman Bachmann and her 4 colleagues so much cover it, so let mejust take a moment before we go on to tell you why, because this is a country which is supposed to protect in a poll religious liberity, and when any religious group or group of people is targeted without evidence, targeted by sitting members of congress, that is not something anybody should remain silent about. Some people from Twitt saying these are just allegations made for polictial reasons by some French politians appealing to debase, that may be true, but these allegations have very rare consequences, not just for the individuals who unfairly put on her microscope of suspicion, but consequences for our foreign policy for all of us, it has a real world impact, these allegations are having an impact around the world, affecting American foreign policy within sensative regions on the earth in middle east, we are gonna show you how in just a moment. But first, I wanna show you what congresswoman Bachmann is basing her suspicion of Huma Abedin on, I wanna kinda walk you down the road that she is taking, in the 60-page letter to congressmen Keith Ellison, a muslim member of congress, a democrat 13, she says that Huma Abedin's niece, father, mother and brother are connected to the muslim brotherhood, here is how she figures it, starting with Abedin's father, again, her dead father, a man named S Abedin, who is a professor of social science and the founder 14 of the institute, a muslim minority affairs in Jida authority Arebia decades ago, 2 decades ago, now Bachmann attributes this information to 2002 law review article at B university, according to that article, professor Abedin is insitu, had the support of another man named Dr. Wuma, who is a former general secretasy of another group called muslim whirling, now Bachmann says according to the pure form, the muslim whirling has a hitory of quote being closely allied 15 and partnering with muslim brotherhood, so that's how many degrees of separation congresswoman Bachmann's claim is based on, HUma Abedin's deceased father started an organization decades ago allegedlly had support of another guy who had another another organization that might have had support of another organization-the muslim brotherhood, and because of that Huma Abedin might be some sort of spy or infiltrator 17 or agent of influence and deserves to be investigated, as for Abedin's mother and brother, congresswoman Bachmann never gives any evidence of their alleged 16 names to the muslim brotherhoo. Now as I mentioned all these charges are having an impact on US foreign policy, here is how. take a look, these are angry crowds who agreed sercetary Hillary Cliton and Huma Abedin in Cairo over the weekend, now you might be wondering what they are protesting about, well, they are protesting the election of their new Islamist president Mohamed Morcy, some carrying signs saying stop US founding of the muslim brotherhood, and quote Cliton is the surpreme guy of the muslim brotherhood, so where would they get an idea like that? well, it turns out from American blogs and websites, that's what a number of Egyptians told reporters, one of Egyptian bloger direct words of journal to the transcript 18 of conversation between 2 American cnservatives who claim that Huma Abedin was participating a muslim brotherhood plot to penetrate 19 the US government, and that bloger's source is also Michele Bachmann's source, Frank G who runs a group for the central security policy, now Mr. G says the muslim brotherhood is infiltrating 20 every aspect of American life and trying to in order to improverish a law, the sudden public law senator calls Frank G I quote the anti-muslim movements most paranoid public.
