China and Egypt have announced that the two countries have upgraded bilateral 1 relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership 2.
This comes as Chinese President Xi Jinping holds talks with his visiting Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in Beijing.
In a joint 3 statement, the two presidents pledged to boost political, economic, military, cultural and technological 4 cooperation, along with cooperation on regional and international affairs.
Following the talks, the two presidents officiated at the signing of agreements in areas including economic cooperation, trade, aerospace 5 and energy.
The two leaders also pledged to cooperate on the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime 6 Silk Road Initiatives.
A human case of H5N6 avian flu has been confirmed in Guangdong.
Chinese health authorities say the patient, a 58-year-old man in the provincial 7 capital, Guangzhou, is receiving treatment at a local hospital. He is listed in critical condition.
No symptoms have been reported among any of the people who had close contact to the man, and experts believe this may be an isolated 8 case.
In April, a man in Sichuan died in what is believed to the world's first human infection of the H5N6 strain of the bird flu virus.
