 A Category-2 tropical cyclone 1 off Western Austrlia's Kimberly coastline is continuing to travel southwest towards the Pilbara. Tropical cyclone Christine is currently about 280 kilometres northwest of Broome. The destrucitive weather system is expected to become a category-3 storm when it makes landfall near Karratha late tomorrow or early Tuesday.


 
In the Sydney to Hobart race, it's looking more likely the New South Wales yacht Vict-wah will claim handicap honors in the ocean classic. Its rival for the prestigious 2 trophy 3 Wild Rose is still about 90 nautical 4 miles from the finish and has to pick up speed if it's to finish by the deadline of four o'clock tomorrow morning.
 
Passengers onboard a ship which has been icebound in Antarctica for five days are hoping for a breakthrough soon. The Australian icebreaker, the Aurora 5 Australis, is due to arrive at the scene in a few hours' time as conditions are reported to be improving. 
 
And a brawl 6 has erupted in an Australian baseball league game between the Sydney Blue Sox and Brisbane Bandits. Things became heated when Brisbane's Patrick Leonard bowled over Sydney catcher Daniel Ar-ee-bas. It led to the entire Brisbane bench getting involved.
