Parts of the Western Australia's Pilbara coast are in lockout as a severe tropical cyclone 1 closes in on the coast. A red alert has been issued for people in all near coastal 2 areas between Pardoo and Whim 3 Creek 4, including Port Hedland, south Hedland and Whim Creek. Cyclone Christine is expected to cross the coast tonight, somewhere between Karratha and Port Hedland.
A day after at least 16 people were killed in a huge explosion at a train station, there's been another explosion in the Russian city of Volgograd. This time, a blast on a trolley 5 bus has killed 10 people. It's the latest in a series of bombings by separatist Islamist groups ahead of the Winter Olympic Games in the Russian city of Sochi.
Retired 6 Formula One champion Michael Schumacher has undergone brain surgery and is in a critical condition after striking his head in a skiing accident in the French Alps. Doctors say the 44-year-old German was suffering serious brain trauma 7 on his arrival at hospital which required an immediate 8 operation.
And Victoire has been named the overall winner of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race. The yacht skippered by Darryl Hodgkinson crossed the line yesterday morning after two days and 19 hours at sea.
