Members of the Taiwan delegation to the "Two Sessions" have welcomed president Xi Jinping's remarks about cross-strait relations. They said the president's statement demonstrated a determination to safegurad peaceful development of relations between Taiwan and the Chinese mainland.
"The president said we oppose "Taiwan independence" secessionist activities in any form, and will safeguard the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity. I believe that's the bottom line for cross-strait relations, and it's also a warning for "Taiwan independence" secessionist activities," said Chen Qinghai, NPC deputy from Taiwan.
"Taiwan people will be part of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. The 23 million Taiwanese will not be absent from the process. History tells us that with national unity, we can realize rejuvenation and grow stronger," said Jiang Erxiong, NPC deputy from Taiwan.
"The president called for further development of cross-strait relations and cooperation in various fields. I think that is a form of guarantee for people from both sides of the Taiwan strait. It shows that as long as we join hands and work together, we can create a good development prospects for our country, our nation and our people," said Cehn Yunying, NPC deputy from Taiwan.
