U2是80年代英国最受瞩目的爱尔兰摇滚乐队，从 1977 年就开始了他们的音乐生涯，当时乐团主要成员还都在都柏林上中学。最初一段时间曾演奏过滚石及海难男孩乐队的经典曲目，并为乐队起名为 Feedback。后来他们还将名字改为Hype，但最终还是在1978年确定为 U2。那个年代，被滚石杂志称为U2 的十年。这么多年过去了，他们依然摇滚，并且，依然流行。他们自始至终都坚持着自己的宗旨和信仰，信奉着什么、刻画着什么。如他们的一些针砭时弊的作品， 他们唱到做到，80年代后一直致力于反战、自由等事业，他们绝对是实至名归的一支最伟大的乐队。
