There once was 2 an old man and old woman in a little house. 从前有个贫穷的老人和他的妻子住在一间小屋里.

They were very poor.他们很穷.

They were so poor,they had 3 nothing to eat. 他们太穷了,没有东西吃

They were very hungry.所以他们很饿.

One afternoon,the old woman said 4,一天下午,老妇人说

"There is no food for supper.What will we do?"晚饭没有吃的了.我们该怎么办?

She was crying.她哭了.

The old man said, 老人说

"Oh,no!What will we do?"哦,天啊!我们该怎么办?

He was crying.他哭了.

Then along 5 came 6 a little boy.这时候来了个小男孩.

The boy was singing,小男孩在唱歌

"Magic 1 stone,magic stone.魔石,魔石.

I have a magic stone!"我有一块魔石!

The old woman said,老人说

"Little boy!Come here.小男孩!到这来.

What is a magic stoen?"什么是魔石?

The little boy said, 小孩说

"A magic stone makes food.A magic stone makes delicious 7 soup!" 魔石可以做出食物.魔石可以做出美味的汤

The old woman said,老妇人说

"Little boy,we are very hungry.小男孩,我们很饿.

We have no supper.May we borrow 8 your magic stone,please?"我们没有晚饭了.可以请你把魔石借给我们吗?

 The little boy said,"Sure!First we need a big pot 9."小男孩说"当然,首先我们需要一口大锅."

So the old woman got 10 a big pot.老妇人拿出一口大锅

The little boy put the magic stone in the pot. 小男孩把魔石放到锅里.

Then the little boy said,

"We need some water."我们需要一些水.

So the old man put water in the pot.老夫人往锅里加了一些水

Then the little boy said,

"We need some salt and pepper 11."我们需要一些盐和胡椒粉

So the old woman put salt and pepper in the pot. 老妇人往锅里加了一些盐和胡椒粉

Then the little boy said,

"We need some vegetables."我们需要一些蔬菜.

The old woman said,

"I have no vegetables."我没有蔬菜.

The little boy said,

"Let's borrow some vegetables from your neighbour 12."让我们跟你的邻居借一点蔬菜

So the old woman walked to Mrs. Guo's house. 于是,老妇人走到Guo太太的家里

She said,

"Mrs. Guo,may I borrow some vegetables? We have a magic stone that makes delicious soup.Guo太太,你可以借我一些蔬菜吗?我们有一块魔石可以做出美味的汤

Mrs. Guo said,"Sure." 当然

Then she said,

"A magic stone!魔石!May I come and have a look?"我可以去看一看吗?

Mrs. Guo brought 13 some vegetables and put them in the pot. Guo太太借出了一些蔬菜放在锅里

Then the little boy said,

"We need some chicken."我们需要一些鸡肉.

Mrs. Guo said,

"Let's borrow some chicken from Mr. Zhu!" 我们跟Zhu先生借点鸡肉吧

Mr. Zhu said,"Sure.".当然可以

Then he said,

"A magic stone!May I come and look?"魔石!我可以看一下吗

Then the little boy said, "We need some fish."我们需要一些鱼肉.

Mr. Zhu said, "Let's borrow some fish from old Mrs. Yang."我们可以跟 Yang太太借点儿鱼肉

Old Mrs. Yang said,"Sure. I have some noodles,too.当然.我还有一些面条.Do you want some noodles?"你们想要一些面条吗? Then she said,

"A magic stone!May I come and look?" 我可以看看魔石吗

Everyone stood 15 around the pot.大家都围着锅站着.

Everyone said, "What a wonderful magic stone!多么神奇的魔石啊!

Is the soup ready yet 16?"汤好了吗?

Finally 17 the little boy said,最后,小男孩说

"The soup is ready.Let's eat!"汤好了.我们来喝吧!

The old man and the old woman gave 18 a bowland spoon to everyone. 老人和夫人给了每人一个碗一只勺子.

Soon everyone was eating.很快大家都喝了起来.
