189. Al Johnson-representative of the people阿尔.约翰逊—人民的代表 represent-residue 1
Al Johnson is a representative of the people. He represents the residents of the 8th Residential 2 District in his city. Al is reputed to be above reproach in his representation. Al feels that it is his job to rescue the people from anyone who tries to repress them and repudiate 3 any measures that the people reserve even the slightest residue of distaste for. In fact, he has a vested interest in the representation of the people who reside there because his own residence is there. One issue that is being discussed is whether to build a reservoir in his district. Al argues that it would not be a good idea because the reservoir would attract many reptiles 5, which the average city folk find repulsive 6, and which would reproduce at an alarming rate throughout the district. The people would be resentful towards Al if this measure passed. Another issue that is pending 7 at the moment is whether to build a biological research center that would specialize in researching human reproductive behavior. Al is also against this idea because the people in his district are quite conservative, and they would be repulsed 9 by any research concerning human reproduction in their district and resent Al greatly if he let such a measure pass. The secret to Al’s success as a representative is that he does not just resemble one of the residents of his district(In fact, it’s more than just a resemblance.)-he is one.
