Good morning, hope your Thursday's after a good start, I'm Reggie Aqui from the CNN Center in Atlanta, here is what's happening right NOW IN THE NEWS.
The House could vote on that compromise stimulus 1 bill as early as today. House and Senate leaders hammered out the details Wednesday on that $789-billion package. Supporters hope to get it passed and onto President Obama's desk by Monday. So far only three Republicans in Congress have supported the plan.
A Justice Department court will decide if some parents of children with autism are owed compensation. The parents argue that the combination of childhood shots caused the autism. The CDC and other health organizations say they have found no credible 2 link between vaccinations 3 and autism.
Pakistan is admitting for the first time that at least part of that Mumbai terror attacks were planned on its soil. The acknowledgement comes from Pakistan's interior minister this morning during a briefing on the investigation 4. He says eight people connected to the attacks have been charged including the suspected mastermind, six of them are in custody 5. The attacks killed more than 160 people.
In Australia authorities have questioned the release without charges, two men in connection with those deadly fires in the southeastern state of Victoria. At least 180 people have been killed since what's been called "Black Saturday". Dozens of fires continue to burn, Australia is planning a national day of service and mourning for the victims.
It's a big day for the 16th President Abraham Lincoln. Today the nation honors the 200th anniversary of his birth. Many celebrations are planned throughout the capital. This morning a national wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Lincoln Memorial. Meantime President Obama heads to his and Lincoln's home state Illinois. He'll hold a town hall meeting on the economy in Peoria.
