Twenty-five years later, Oprah still knows how to get those eyeballs robbed, and it's so secret that throughout her career, Oprah Winfrey has been very private when it comes to questions about her personal life. Yet every few years she entices 1 viewers with new and one could argue calculating details. Well today, the queen of daytime talk who celebrates her 57th birthday this Saturday is surprising viewers with some major news.
 
"I was given some news that literally 2 shook me to my core."
 
Friday’s provocative 3 announcement created a title wave of speculation 4 over the weekend about just what the queen of the media will reveal. In the promo, Oprah appears to be greeting a woman.
 
"Is it about her father, is it about her mother, is it a lost daughter."
 
Twitter's theories have been flying and it's Sundance's weekend she was talking.
 
"I’m so... really excited."
 
But not about the secret. Creating a media stir wouldn’t be out of  character. For 25 years Oprah’s genius for generating buzz has brought her millions of loyal viewers and tearful reunions.

The very public but famously private Oprah Winfrey promises to reveal a personal bombshell today.
 
''I’ve been keeping a family secret for months and you are gonna hear it straight from me."
 
And the big secret is we’ve learned that Oprah is revealing that she has a younger half-sister Oprah’s mother gave her up for adoption 6 as a child.
 
Give a little more details.
 
That was a big secret, so Oprah found out about this before Thanksgiving. The sister had known about this for 2 years. She lives in Milwaukee and Oprah says she’s coming, clean with this now because she doesn’t want anyone to exploit this. This was not something that she'd be able to hide for much longer. Of course people have to question, you know, about ratings and this is her last year with the Oprah show, she is starting her own network. But she's saying all of this was a personal decision of her own and the family decided 7 together.
 
Well, that's, that's Oprah style. She wants to be the one to reveal something like this. She didn't want someone else saying it: You alluded 8 to the ratings. I know then in the last year her ratings dipped, but they bounced back up.
 
They bounced to the highest level of November.
 
Yeah, exactly, and that of course launching their own network. It’s started very well. It’s, it’s declined a little bit and some people were speculating the timing 9 of revealing this .
 
That, that is the case, and in fact is that Oprah throughout all of these years, has known just exactly what to reveal and when, where you never got over-saturated with Oprah details but it's clear that her audience still loves to hear from her. 
 
And we'll see the reunion with her half-sister.

Well, we've known over the years that, Oprah’s relationship with the mother has been so much strained.
